Terms of service

Last updated: [DATE]

These terms are an agreement between [COMPANY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [COUNTRY] ("we", "us") and the organisation that signs up for SafeRewind ("you"). The person who accepts them confirms they may do so on the organisation's behalf. If you don't agree, don't use SafeRewind.

1. What SafeRewind is

SafeRewind is a browser extension and website for recording bug reports. The extension keeps a short recording of browser tabs on sites you allow, and turns it into a report file when someone presses Save. The website holds your account, your organisation's settings and your subscription.

2. Accounts and seats

  • An organisation account has one or more admins, who invite members and manage the subscription.
  • Each person who records reports needs a seat. A seat belongs to one person at a time. Admins can move a seat to someone else, but not so often that one seat is in practice shared by several people.
  • People who only open reports don't need a seat or an account.
  • You're responsible for keeping sign-in details safe and for what happens under your account.

3. Trial

A new organisation gets a free trial of 14 days with no payment details. When it ends, recording stops until you choose a plan. Reports made during the trial keep working.

4. Subscriptions and payment

  • Our order process is run by our online reseller Paddle.com, who is the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms apply to your purchase.
  • Plans are billed monthly in advance, at the price for the number of seats on the pricing page when you subscribe. Prices exclude taxes, which Paddle adds where required.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period.

5. Your data and your reports

Recordings, reports and everything in them stay on your devices, and go only where you send them. We don't receive, store or have access to them. You decide what is recorded and who receives a report, so you're responsible for them: in particular, for having a right to record the pages you record and for telling the people whose data may appear in them, where the law requires it.

For your account, we process the data described in our privacy policy. Business customers can sign a data processing agreement with us.

6. The license check

The extension checks your organisation's subscription with our servers about once a day. These checks carry your account details, never anything recorded. If our servers can't be reached, recording keeps working for 7 days from the last successful check.

7. What you may and may not do

While your subscription or trial is active, we give you the right to use SafeRewind for your organisation's own work. You agree not to:

  • record people or data you're not entitled to record, or use SafeRewind to break any law;
  • share seats or accounts, or get around the license check or seat limits;
  • copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer SafeRewind, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms;
  • resell SafeRewind or offer it to others as a service;
  • interfere with our servers or other customers' use of them.

8. Our property

SafeRewind, its code, design and name belong to us or our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond those in section 7. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep SafeRewind available and useful, and we may change or improve it over time. If we remove a feature your plan depends on, we'll tell you in advance, and you may cancel and get a refund for the remaining paid period.

10. Warranties

SafeRewind is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be free of errors or that it will find or remove every piece of sensitive information in a recording: the person sending a report should check it before sending, using the review screen. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that can't be limited by contract.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential losses, or loss of profit, revenue or data, and our total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using SafeRewind and close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after a warning where reasonable. When an account closes, recording stops; reports already made keep opening, since they're files on your devices.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we'll email admins at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use SafeRewind after that means you accept them.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY], and the courts of [COUNTRY] handle any dispute, unless the law requires otherwise.
