When something breaks, the bug report is already done
SafeRewind is a Chrome extension that keeps the last 30 seconds of your app in memory. One click saves the video, the steps, the console and the network requests as one report your developers can act on. Nothing leaves your computer until you send it.
The problem
Bug reports shouldn't need a follow-up meeting
A screen recording or a short message leaves developers asking the same questions every time. The answers are gone by the time anyone asks. SafeRewind records them while the bug happens.
- "Which browser were you on?"Browser, system, screen size and language are in every report.
- "What did you click before that?"Every click, typed value and page change, written as plain steps.
- "Can you send me the console?"Errors and warnings from the page, with the moment they happened.
- "Which request failed?"Every request with its status, timing, headers and response.
How it works
Rewind mode: save what just happened
Most bugs show up by surprise, and they're hard to make happen again on purpose. So SafeRewind is always holding the last 30 seconds, ready for the moment something goes wrong.
- 1
Turn it on for your app
Choose the sites SafeRewind may record, such as your staging app. Chrome asks you to confirm each one, and a badge shows when SafeRewind is on.
- 2
Keep working as usual
SafeRewind keeps the last 30 seconds of the tab in memory and throws away anything older. Nothing is saved to disk and nothing is sent.
- 3
Something broke? Press Save
The 30 seconds before the bug are already recorded, so nobody has to make it happen again. Trim the video, blur what's private, say what went wrong, and download the report.
What's in a report
Everything a developer asks for, on one timeline
Every event is stored with the moment it happened, so the video, steps, console and network line up. The report is a single file that opens in any browser, with no account and no server.
- Video of the tabExactly what the reporter saw, with blurred areas burned into the pixels.
- StepsClicks, typing and page changes, named the way a screen reader names them: "Clicked Pay".
- ConsoleErrors, warnings and logs from the page, including errors nobody caught.
- NetworkRequests with status, timing, headers and bodies. Failed ones are marked.
- Page and browser detailsAddress, browser and version, system, window size, pixel density and language.
- The reporter's noteWhat went wrong in their own words, plus arrows, boxes and text on the video.
Privacy
Built for screens that show customer data
Cloud recorders get blocked wherever support and QA teams see real customer data. SafeRewind keeps recording, review and the report itself on the device, so there's nothing for your security team to chase.
- Nothing leaves the computer until you send itRecording, review and the report itself all happen in the browser. SafeRewind's servers never receive a video, a log or a request.
- Memory only, then goneThe last 30 seconds live in memory and are overwritten as you go. Close the tab and they're gone.
- Only on sites you chooseSafeRewind records nothing on other sites. Chrome confirms each site, and you can remove one at any time.
- Always visibleThe SafeRewind icon shows ON while a tab is being kept, and it's off by default.
- Secrets removed as they're recordedPasswords, card numbers and one-time codes are never read. Login headers, cookies and tokens are removed before anything is stored.
- You see what will be sentBefore download, the reporter sees every part of the report and can leave steps, console or network out.
Made for everyone who touches a bug
- For testers, support and product peopleOne button, no technical words. You don't need to know what a console is to send one.
- For developersVideo, steps, console and network on one timeline. Click an error and the video jumps to that moment.
- For security reviewsReport data stays on your devices and goes only where your team sends it. There's no cloud copy to approve.
